As Winter approaches, we face one of the most challenging times of the year in the NHS. We all know too well how the so-called Winter Pressures continue to impact general practice, most specialities, and the NHS at large.
These challenges often force healthcare practitioners to think on their feet and find solutions in quickly changing and unfamiliar circumstances. In these stressed situations, please be mindful of GMC guidance to provide patient care to the best of your abilities, but within your areas of competence.
I am also thinking of our colleagues who have only recently joined the National Health Service from abroad. For them this could be their first winter of practice in the UK. I hope you will join me in being particularly understanding and supportive of them as they learn to navigate the Winter Pressures.
I hope that in the midst of all your professional responsibilities, you will find time to replenish yourselves and spend this joyous time with your friends and family, in the knowledge that you can call on MDS to provide you with support and help with any professional matters.
While some of our team will also take a well deserved break over Christmas, MDS will remain available for all urgent enquiries 24/7 over the festive season, providing you with professional support, without compromise.
Last but not least, I wish to thank our medico-legal experts, Prof Sam Shah and Dr Paul Younge, who delivered the recent webinar on ‘Human Factors for Safe Medical Practice’ for our members, as part of our ambition to provide our membership with high quality CPD and insights into safe practice.
We will advertise any new webinar via our social media accounts (X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) and via email to our membership.
Thank you for your continuing confidence in us and from all of us at MDS we wish you a happy and prosperous 2025!
Dr Joydeep Grover FRCEM
