MDS opens its membership to Nursing professionals

We are thrilled to share that we have now opened our membership to Nursing professionals for the first time and we look forward to supporting the Nursing community with the same commitment to excellence and unique personal touch we have been providing to our members over the years.

Since our launch in 2010, we have steadily been expanding and growing our offering, while never compromising on the quality of our service. We are excited to add this new chapter to our history.

Our new MDS Nursing plan will provide registered nurses, nursing associates and healthcare assistants with a comprehensive package of Clinical Defence and Employment Support services for a competitive price. Student Nurses will be able to apply for a free membership with similar benefits.

Membership starts at £90 per year for Healthcare Assistants and at £180 for Registered Nurses and Nurse Associates.

Dr Joydeep Grover, MDS Medical Director said: “MDS is now an established defence organisation which is widely recognised as an effective and robust representative for our diverse membership base from all nationalities. We have received multiple pleas for assistance from several nursing colleagues over the years, and we are delighted to now be able to offer our services to the nursing community.

A special partnership to support BINA nurses

We launched our new Nursing Plan during the annual conference of the British Indian Nurses Association (BINA) at the Leicester Racecourse, on Friday 29 November 2024, when we also announced a special partnership with our sister organisation BINA.

MDS has a long history of supporting healthcare professionals of Indian origin, having been established in 2010 by the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO).

This partnership will see BINA members receiving three months free membership when joining our Nursing plan.

Nurses moving to the UK from abroad to work in our Healthcare System, including many of  Indian origin, are a cornerstone of the NHS contributing significantly to the quality of patient care. The partnership between MDS and BINA aims to support these dedicated professionals by offering tailored membership plans that address their unique needs.

Dr Ramesh Mehta CBE, President of BAPIO said: “BINAs work in supporting nurses of Indian origin to adapt to life in the UK and to navigate the complexities of the National Health Service is both noble and essential.

Mr Marimouttou Coumarassamy, Founder and Chairman of BINA, said: “I am so delighted we have partnered with MDS to help our nursing community. Thanks to this partnership, we can protect our nurses from day one. The first three months being free will make this support more affordable, in particular for those that have just started working in healthcare. Thank you MDS and BAPIO for  making this possible.

This partnership recognises the importance of nurses and medical practitioners from across the world in supporting the NHS and their invaluable contributions to the healthcare system. The partnership between MDS and BINA means that these nurses can receive the necessary support and protection to continue their vital work with peace of mind.
